IR Remote Control for Shortwave Radios & Scanners

While the FRG-8800 is an older model, the SWL IR Remote still offers a lot of control of the receiver. With the SWL IR Remote you can enter frequencies directly, move quickly up and down through frequencies, and control modes of the receiver. All of the features available through the CAT interface that apply to IR remote operation of the FRG-8800 have been implemented in the SWL IR Remote. Yaesu does not provide a means to control the Volume or Squelch using the CAT interface.

The SWL IR Remote connects directly to the FRG-8800 CAT port. The CAT cable is included. No additional equipment is required for IR remote operation.

With the addition of the RS232C Level Converter option, you can also control the FRG-8800 with your computer as well as have IR Remote control of the receiver. The FIF-232C CAT interface is not needed.

We have a Windows frequency logging and radio control program. This program has been tested with Windows 95, 98, 98SE, Me, and XP. You can scan frequency ranges, scan and select stored frequencies, and log your favorite frequencies by station. This program gives you virtually unlimited memories because the PC is used for memory storage. This is a perfect addition to our Level Converter option. You must have our Level Converter or the Yaesu FIF-232C CAT interface for this software to work. Documentation is provided in a help file.

• Enter frequency directly to 10Hz in the range of 200kHz to 30MHz.
• Enter frequency directly in the range of 118MHz to 174MHz with optional VHF Converter (FRV-8800) installed.
• Increase or decrease frequency using CH +/- in steps of 10Hz, 100Hz, 1kHz, 5kHz, 9kHz, 10kHz, 100kHz, and 1MHz in the range of 200kHz to 30MHz; also from 118MHz to 174MHz with VHF Converter installed.
• Set up to five (5) User Tuning Steps. Useful for detuning frequencies by one half of filter bandwidth or use a very small frequency step to quickly zero-beat in SSB mode.
• Recall last directly entered frequency.
• Select mode - AM, FM, LSB, USB, and CW.
• Select filter - Wide or Narrow in AM and CW mode.
• Connect to a computer RS-232C port with optional SWL IR Remote Level Converter.
• Settable parameters:
• Enable/Disable VHF Converter operation.
• Frequency pacing. You can control the pacing of frequency up and down. This is how fast the frequency changes when you hold the CH+/- keys.
• Define up to five User Tuning Steps.
• Status LED that shows communications status, settable parameter entry, and clear key operation.
